Philosophy

My approach to therapy is that it is most effective when it is client-driven. I strive to create a nonjudgmental space of acceptance and validation that honors uniqueness and encourages vulnerability. In doing so, I am able to support clients in making progress toward goals that they themselves identify, rather than what is predetermined by others.

Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I work with clients across the lifespan to explore how thought patterns and core beliefs impact the way they see themselves. My work centers on offering additional perspectives, rather than merely giving advice. In order to assist clients in best meeting their goals, I specialize in using adaptive and creative learning approaches that best meet their unique needs. As an Animal-Assisted Therapist, I partner with my therapy dog, Dante, to support others through this creative, experiential therapeutic modality when appropriate.

As a bilingual and bicultural clinician, I am passionate about providing trauma-informed, culturally grounded services to clients. I believe in honoring diversity and intersectionality of identity in all forms. My therapeutic orientation acknowledges cultural identity, historical trauma, and intergenerational disparities, recognizing that their significance can oftentimes go unrecognized within mental health and society at large.
