Philosophy

It takes a great deal of courage to reach out and ask for help. No matter how much we are struggling, sometimes it is easier to just keep muddling along. I consider it an honor and a privilege to walk with people who are experiencing the challenges that we all face in life- relationship issues, loss of someone we love, difficult situations at work, and all sorts of change- and reaching out for help. My approach is to work with you to understand the circumstances you are facing, to help you know yourself better, and to develop healthy coping strategies that assist you in facing these challenges. My style is warm, compassionate and engaging. We work together and you will set the pace and goals for our work.

I am proud to be a licensed clinical social worker because social work as a profession involves a passion for social justice and working with people from marginalized and oppressed populations. Social workers see the world through a lens of "person in environment", which means that we are all part of various systems where we are interconnected; thus, each of us is impacted by the people and circumstances around us. Sometimes the change process involves changes to relationships and circumstances, in addition to internal changes. My goal is to help you understand the origin of those behavior patterns you wish to change, the impact of people and systems around you on your goals, and some ways you might begin to move to a place of peace and self- compassion. My areas of interest include young adults, relationships, couples, grief and loss, parenting, and adjustment to life changes. I am also a doula and I assist women with emotional support during labor and childbirth as a volunteer at Denver Health. I enjoy working with people who are expecting a child or transitioning to parenthood.
